Max Does his Trick

Max! Put your hands up!

Max was an abused rescue. We have had him for quite a few years now and he has come around quite good. He is such a lover boy we forget he has a tendency to bite peoples ankles if they just try to walk in without acknowledging him.  This is really the only trick he knows how to do, but it is a good one!

Good Boy!

  1. Awww, he’s adorable! A clever boy indeed!

    • He got kennel cough when we first got him and the vet (not our vet anymore) looked me in the eye and asked in a very derogatory fashion, “Why would you adopt a dog like that?” Yea ok he was sick, and skinny and he would not come out of the kennel without biting someone. But I see what they can be and he turned out to be a great dog. Well Ok he does have a few issues, Don’t we all? lol

      • I’m glad you got a new vet, and not a new dog…. This dog needed you.

      • Awe thanks. I am notsofancy at a lot of things but one thing I am really, really good at it is dogs! It is like I use to be one and can understand them, sensing their needs. I love em!

      • I’m glad. I’m a horse and bunny whisperer… We all have our ways of knowing… Just have to be tuned in to the right station. 😀

      • Yes, and sometimes it take a bit to figure how to fine tune that station. But once you have a clear channel it is like nothing else in the world, the best.

      • What a charming vet! I can understand why you went to another. You love each other dearly and that’s a wonderful outcome, rescue dogs are so rewarding. Max may only have one trick but it’s a good one 😉

      • Thanks we think he is quite charming and since he is now our oldest dog he is now the pack leader! Yea Max!

  2. Aww, he looks likes a mini version of one of our dogs, Toady. 🙂

    • I am gonna come over and check it out! Thanks for liking it!

  3. Taking in an animal (or 14, in my case) from a rescue, kill shelter, no-kill shelter, the street, a bad situation, or other place where they’re not wanted or have been discarded, is one of the most humane things anyone can do to show what kind of a person they are ON THE INSIDE, in my opinion. I’m proud of you, and Max. I love that second pic. Thanks for sharing this.

  4. All of my grand kitty’s and grand doggy’s are rescued little four-legged people! My baby “Mason” is my first after 20 years. He almost has me trained. :0) Your kindness is appreciated you are an “angel”. ajm

    • Thank you! I have had about 5 very abused dogs that I have retrained to live normal lives with me. It is challenging but so rewarding. Tyler was a feral dog and it took 6 months for me to be able to touch him. He lived a happy healthy life with us until he passed away a couple of years ago. At the end of his life he was going camping with us and even going up to others to be petted. He was very challenging and I feel it is one of my greatest accomplishments! Ever!

  5. What a sweet boy! And kudos to you for rescuing him and giving him such a good life.

  6. Awwwww, Max you look like a real sweetie…good job on the trick! Hugs and nose kisses

  7. Oh Max makes me smile! What a precious pup…

    • Thank you we have got a lot of smiles out of him too! lol

  8. What a lucky dog Max is – you have shown him a lot of love and got so much more in return. ~Patty

    • That is what I love about dogs, we always get so much more than companionship! We are lucky!

  9. What a sweet little face! i think that’s a very fine trick! My brother has three rescue dogs and I just love them! They can at times get a little skittish, but when they feel safe, they just lap up the love! Debra

    • Yes, I believe the best breed for me is rescue. Thanks for stopping by!

  10. Aww max looks absolutely adorable! and his trick is mighty impressive!

    • He really turned out to be a great dog. I think we will keep him. lol

  11. Excellent! Good buddy, Max!

    • He is a great happy dog, now! lol he was a handful when we first got him. He was abused, but now 8 years later he is such a happy dog. We are blessed!
