Silent Sunday, California Poppy Reserve, 2010

It was a very windy day, hard to get the poppy’s to pose

View from the Reserve

Across the Valley

Someone lives near the reserve

Farm Implements

Ok so I have a problem with the whole silent thing! tehe

  1. Absolutely breathtaking!! Love the farm implements!! An old wagon would be perfect there too! ❤ Thanks for sharing!!

    • Thanks Linda. We live quite across the valley from it and you could see the orange on the hills from here. Amazing, this year not so many. It was a dry year.

    • It would be awesome to live there and have all those poppy’s in my yard. But when they have a good year like this there are way too many people out there. None to speak of this year. It was really dry so the fields don’t get watered.

  2. This looks familiar… 😀 No mustard?

    • lol no mustard here! Down the road a bit but not in the poppy fields.

  3. Love the poppy fields, enjoy your site, I have a poem called Crimson Fields on

    • Beautiful poem and picture, thanks for sharing!

  4. Beautiful photos!!

    • Thanks it is really amazing to see them in person.

  5. What a great thing to witness with our own eyes. God is so great to show His love of nature. Thanks for sharing. <

    • Thanks Sis! Doug can see the orange on his way to work. Not sure they got many this year. It was a dry one.

  6. Isn’t this the reserve north of LA – up somewhere past Palmdale?

  7. Beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing them with us. Oh yeah was I supposed to comment on silent Sunday? Looks like I have a problem with the silent thing too! 😉

    • hahahaha I don’t have one either and I got to see them! lol

  11. Beautiful Pics Nancy Keep up the good work!

  12. All this beauty… You get to look on this everyday???? Absolutely wonderful! Zee

    • Some say the desert is a curse! I say beauty lies hidden in its dry scorched earth. I do love the wildflowers!

  13. Lovely. I adore California poppies.

    • They were especially pretty in 2010. I have some that grow in my garden. I do not pull the volunteers so they grow wherever they want to. lol I love them too. Thanks for the comment and stopping by.

  19. beautiful…I was out in Mojave a few years ago…I drove cross country from Maine to Santa Cruz ,Ca where I wintered with friends for several months. I spent some time in Joshua Tree and it was beautiful, amazing..then on the way back east I couchsurfed in Mojave, very ,very windy, but amazing landscape. would love to go back and spend more time in road trip.

    • As I sit here in my windy high desert home I can understand how one could couch surf here! lol thanks for stopping by!

  20. Stunning!

    • It takes my breath away to stand in the fields and be surrounded by them. Thanks

  21. Gorgeous!
