It is with a tear in my eye I have to report Another Hero Has Been Called Home. We have lost another one of The “Greatest Generation,” and fellow blogger Mr. Bill Duff
I have only been blogging for five months now. In that time I have found that reading others stories about World War II helps me gain insight into the different experiances of the soldiers who also fought. This in turn helps me better understand what my father went through. One of my favorite blogs to read is High Flight, Memories of a Flight Pilot. Bill Duff with his daughter Stacey, acting as his Ghost Writer has captured my heart. Mr. Duff has been called home, this week and has been reunited with the love of his life, wife Paula, who went home in 2010.
Mr. Duff’s daughter Stacey has been helping him get his memories recorded and typed them up in his own words. It is genius and she is very gifted in writing and sharing his memories. It is a great blog and I highly recommend it for anyone who is interested in World War II history.
I send prayers and condolences to his family.
Help me honor him today by clicking on one of the links provided and learning their story.

God bless you Mr. Duff and please tell my father I said hi, I love him and miss him!
It is so moving to see how you honor these forgotten heroes.

Oh, my goodness, Nancy. This is probably one of the first times that I’ve really felt the loss of my Dad. Your tribute to him and to our times together is so very touching. I am not usually at a loss for words – but this is the predicament that I find myself in this morning. There is so much I’d like to say – and words of appreciation. There are too many muddling my mind right now – but please know that as the words become more clear – there are many that will be in appreciation of what you have done for my Dad, my family, and my spirit. WIth gratitude – Stacey

What a beautiful tribute Nancy. My Dad was a WWII vet too. He’s been gone almost 20 years and not a day goes by that I don’t miss him. God Bless both you and Stacey for talking such good care of Mr. Duff.

Thank you Roberta. I have never had the chance to meet Mr. Duff but I feel like he is part of the family. My WWII family.

We know these dear heroes can’t live forever, and this wonderful man lived a long life, but somehow it is still so hard to let them go on…I think it’s because they aren’t being replaced. Today’s soldiers, even though heroic and worthy of our love and respect, don’t quite have the background of humility that our older “greatest generation” have…such a loss! Debra

What a lovely thing…to honor those who have served.
Thank you for the link to Stacey’s blog (continuing her dad’s). I have enjoyed visiting both of your blogs.

Once again, Nancy, you have honoured my Dad through your memories and kind words. Our fathers were – and continue to be – very special people. Bless you for your efforts and dedication. I still miss Dad everyday – and today has been no exception. While he was alive and blogging (for 3 months only) you made a difference in his life and he felt his contributions were honoured.
