Silent Sunday

  1. so glad we do not have to dress in layers like that

  2. Is this photo in your possession?
    If so, who is it?
    Do you collect photographs?

    • These are my great aunts Hattie and Sadie. Last year I went back to Jersey where our family photos are residing at the moment and scanned 1600 family pictures. This one was among them. I am hoping someday they will make it back to California and they will once again be in my possession.

  3. I am glad we no longer dress with so much “coverage”–but they are really beautiful! Wonder how often they washed clothing like this! Debra

    • Looking at the temperature here in So Cal Desert and it is 116 in the direct sunlight I am SO glad we do not have to wear such clothing. lol Not sure how often they washed them but I am sure it was quite the chore.

  4. Very modern, at the time!

  5. How did you get the picture of me and Aunt Flo?

    • ah hahaha That is Hattie and Sadie. My Great Aunts. You made me laugh!

  6. What a fantastic photo thank you for sharing 🙂

  7. They must have had giant closets, look at all that gear for one outfit.

  8. No wonder they had to travel with trunks and trunks of clothes! I love old pictures. I have been known to buy them at antique stores even though I have no clue who they are! 🙂

    • I love them too. I have quite a few of my family members and lots of tin types. It is a glimpse into the past.

  9. It seems everyone, no matter their circumstance had class and grace in the 19th century.
