This photo haunts me. I feel a nostalgia, yet a sadness. It reminds me of WW II, of course, and the awful live coverage we got at the movie theaters of bombers, the sky filed with parachutes, piles of dead bodies–soldiers and civilians. Thank you for sharing this.

Those brick lined streets probably look exactly the same. What strike me is how few people are out.
