It a Girl!

Just hours old

It’s a girl, Lyla Mae arrived at the hospital ahead of her grandparents this morning at 9:31 weighing 7 lbs 1 oz, 20 inches long.

We live an hour away from the hospital and my hubby works another hour away (in the opposite direction) I got the call from our daughter at a bit before 7 am and from the way she was describing her labor I knew it would not be long. After all this is her third child, they have already graced us with two boys age five and three.

Right away I called my hubby but he was not answering his work phone. He works at Edwards Air Force base and when he is working on a mission he is not available for calls and cannot take his cell phone into the control room. By the time he was out of the control room it was a half hour later. Once he got off the base and home we had an hour to go. I just knew we would not make it in time for the birth but we held our breath and headed down the hill into the LA Basin.

About 9:00 we got a text she was pushing. We were still 45 minutes away. We got a text from our oldest daughter about 10:00 am that the baby was born at 9:31 and the details. Daughter #3 was in her bed looking beautiful when we arrived. Except for the fact she was in an hospital bed in the hospital there were no signs of a hard delivery. This young lady is amazing.

Little Lyla

Lyla looks like my hubby and their middle child. I absolutely love her name and as I said yesterday this never gets old. We have quite a range in ages of our grand kids. The oldest is 18 year old and just started college. The youngest is just hours old. We are blessed.
