Weekly Photo Challenge:Solitary #5

A solitary Tornado about 1940 Kansas

  1. Wow! What an amazing photo! Thanks for sharing.

  2. There’s a photo that draws attention! Wow!

    • Amazing isn’t it? It was taken by my great aunt very early on. Before my mom’s family left Kansas.

  3. You have such a wealth of photographs! You should definitely publish a book on your father’s letters and another book of photographs! Beautiful. Wonderful that all this information has survived!

    • Thank you. And to think I found them in a basement in New Jersey suffering from some water damage. I scanned 2600 photo in to my computer and there are still a lot there. I brought my fathers WWII photo album back to Cali and scanned them here. Oh I just remembered I brought my grandmothers photo album home to work on…. lol thanks for reminding me. lol I am hoping someday the pictures will all come back to California so I can continue.

  4. Spooky, we had one in Edmonton about 27 years ago. They’ve hit all around Alberta lately but, knock wood, not in the city.

    • Wow! I am a California girl, we have earthquakes but no tornado’s. Earthquakes I can handle, not so sure about a tornado. My great aunt took this one.

  5. That is incredible, wow. I want to believe it’s a special effect!

    • I bet my aunt who ventured out of the cellar to take the picture wished it was too…lol Well maybe not she got some great pictures. lol

      • Brave lady!

  6. Whew, what an amazing picture! Do you know if there was damage or if anyone was hurt?

    • No, sadly all that would have known have already passed. I tried to look it up on the internet to no avail.

  7. Bet your great aunt was glad it was solitary!

  8. Truly an amazing photo Nancy. 🙂

  9. Wow. That would scare the bejeesus out of me.

  10. Dorothy, where are my red slippers?!!!!! 🙂

  11. Holy cow! This is so scary. I would be terrified! But what a great photo.
