Weekly Photo Challenge: Curves

Dad Wrote "Post of Maginot line of 1914"

I love the curve of this tunnel! Dad wrote “Post of Maginot line of 1914”

The Maginot Line were concrete fortifications built on the  eastern boarder of France to help defend them from Germany. It spanned from Switzerland to Luxemburg. It failed in spring of 1940 when the German’s went north through Belgium. My dad’s division stayed for a week in what remained of this post which is where this picture was taken in 1945.

  1. Great pic for curves and great history to go with it.

  2. I don’t know any more details but did you know it was named after its designer?

    • Why yes I did know that! lol “named after the French Minister of War, Andrew Maginot, who died in 1932,” There is about 4 or 5 of pictures of this amazing place in his collection but Dad never talks about it in his letters so I plan to do a post about it in the future. It sure is a fascinating place.
