It is a real wonder when cacti flower. We used to grow a lot of cacti at home when I was a young child, I guess having southern spanish heritage it was something that was commonplace in the environment, whether lining the streets and the countryside or in people’s homes. But I don’t ever remember seeing any of our house cacti flower. I know some only flower once every 4 years. So I can appreciate how your image represents masterpiece. Great shot. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Have a great day!

Even more special when you are driving in the desert where everything looks dead and in a moment you see a flash of the magenta color. We always have to stop and enjoy their beauty.

Very pretty Nancy. Did you Black and White out the background or is that ground just dry and void of colour? Either way, I like the composition of the flowers standing out.

All natural colors. What you see are the thorns of the cacti. This cactus is called a hedgehog cactus. It is amazing driving through the desert and you spy a glimpse of color and when you get close you find this beauty!
