Weekly Photo Challenge: Unusual POV

Unknown WWII Soldier, WWII

Unknown WWII Soldier, WWII

This picture is from Murray Combs WWII collection. So once again I am portraying the unusual view of a WWII Soldier. I am just wondering where this statue may be. Have you seen it? I believe it is from when they were overseas so it could be France, Holland, or even Germany.

  1. Believe me, I spent about half and hour looking for this statue at home a while back… Can you at least tell me who the male figure represents? One thing for sure. I don’t see any extensive damage from bullets or shrapnel so my initial guess would be it was out of the line of fire.

    • Ah ha got ya! This is actually a different picture of a different statue. The other one had two main figures a lady and a man where today’s statue shows one male main figure. It also has a bunch of cherubs oh and also has a Sphinx. I will agree it must have been out of the line of fire.

      • Any more tips like that? Like cherubs and Sphinx?

      • The Spinks has really long claws and one of the cherubs is playing in a bounty of grapes and maybe other fruit. Oh and there is an unknown soldier in there that does not belong. lol The next picture or the one in between them shows the Eifel Tower in the background so my guess would be somewhere in France. I am not sure how they are organized though. BTW I got another 50 new pictures and have added them to the online album. When you have time (I know you don’t have a lot) you may want to stop by and check them out.

      • What online album???

      • I sent you an email. but it is the Picasa album you have access to.

      • It looks like the main figure is the same male figure that was in the first picture with the woman and they he looks to be the God of water???

  2. He kind of blends in there. 🙂

  3. I couldn’t help but chuckle. It’s like a modern day photo bomb. 🙂
