Weekly Photo Challenge: Inside

Found inside my house

Found “inside” my house

One day I saw the plants on my plant stand moving inside my house and it scared me. Living in rural desert it could have been anything.  At that same moment I saw Roxi, my dog staring up at the plants. With caution I moved the plants and found this beauty. Come to find out my hubby found Roxi playing with a chrysalis, took it away from her and through it on the plant stand quite a bit of time before and forgot about it. I carefully caught it and sent it on it’s journey of life. What a fun day it was.

  2. Lovely. You can catch and release beauties like this–I grow parsley and when I get caterpillars, enclose the parsley in a butterfly enclosure–they make their chrysalis where you can see it and you can see them when they hatch, then let them go. They will overwinter as a chrysalis outside. You can get black swallowtails that way.

    • Nice! We have a huge cottonwood tree in the back yard and they live there. We had no idea that the chrysalis would actually hatch. It was a beautiful surprise.
