When the desert gets too much water and it “stands” in a pond it will eventually dry out and you will have the above. I really enjoyed taking pictures of all the amazing lines in this pond. If you look at it long enough the lines will turn into patterns. Be careful you may go cross eyed.

Weekly Photo Challenge: From Lines to Patterns

I am fascinated by how in the lower right there appears to be more of a break that looks jagged and rough… while all the other lines look as if they were carefully carved by a desert artist. 🙂

That’s beautiful! Where was it taken?

It was taken near Lone Pine, California, in a pond left over from the old days.

Very nice image that matches the challenge perfectly. I saw that same “stuff” right outside of Manzanar, too. I also see those patterns in my mirror. Lol

ah hahahaha Mustang Koji. This one was actually taken in Manzanar at “Pleasure Park.” I have seen so many of these elsewhere but never one that fascinated me as much as this one.

Wow, that’s amazing. The cracks are so darn straight. Like an expert brick layer put that together. Mother nature is a real artist. I hope we never see earth like that here, it’d not be ‘a good thing’, but I suppose normal in the desert. Great photo for the theme Nancy

I have never seen them as deep as this before. We have a dry lake six miles away from home that gets this way after winter rains. The dry lake is 7 miles long and three miles wide. It is amazing to see it after it dries out but never like this.
