Cima Dome

Cima Dome

Cima Dome is located in the East Mojave Desert. If you look at the small mound in the distance it is shaped like a gold pan. Well if you were looking at it from the sky it would. This is said to have happened when the world was still volcanic, approximately 10, 000 years ago. The volcanic activity pushed this part of the earth up to make it. If you look on the left side of the dome you will see Tutonia Peak. As the activity pushed up the earth to make a dome that little peak became a spout to let all the steam out of it. This is something you can see on your way to Las Vegas from Los Angeles, though not many people know it is there.

  1. Wow, I WOULD NOT want to run out of gas out there. Reminds me of Breaking Bad, they’d park their RV out in the desert and ‘cook’…I’m going to miss that darn show.

    • We usually do that. Drive out in the desert and cook only we cook things like turkey, stuffing, and all the fixings. In fact that is what we do for thanksgiving which is coming up soon! The nice thing is the desert is not closed…… Damn American furloughs.

      • Don’t know if you watched Breaking Bad…..LOL, that’s so funny. Now I’m picturing cooking turkey in tighty whities.
Glad to hear the desert is not closed 😀 It’s madness right? A friend was just in Washington, DC on business and wasn’t able to visit any of the memorials or monuments. Others attending with family members were equally disappointed. Why would the Lincoln Memorial need to be closed? There’s no doors and it’s open air…outside! Hope things improve down there. We’re concerned for the global economy, no one gov’t is an island these days.

      • The thing that bothers me most about all of this is denying our vets their right to visit the “Wall” to pay their respects to the fallen, men they saw KIA. They already paid their dues to see it. Sad, sad, sad

      • So true Nancy, that is shameful to be sure.
