Flocked

I came across this post and it made me laugh. I needed to laugh. It could only have happened to me.Β  I hope it makes you laugh too!

When I was in Jersey helping with my nephew’s kids I was at the store picking up some groceries. I was going to be making two pumpkin crumbles so I needed whipped cream. I reached up and grabbed a can and as I went to put it in the cart and I hit the very bottom of the can on the top of the cart and it spun out of my grasp.

Here is where things started going in slow motion. The can hit the floor….hit just the right place and it began to spew its contents while turning itself like a top. First it gave the dairy shelves a flocking of it’s wet sticky white contents. Then it turned and got the employee who was stocking the bread isle… again a pretty nice cover of white which landed from the knee down. Then slowly it turned to me and there it sat and spewed….. thinking I myself wanted to be flocked. I could not believe how much cream was in that red can. It filled my shopping cart, all of the little holes in the plastic cart, covered the groceries including my open purse and me. Somehow it got me in the face and glasses. I could not see and it was dripping down my nose. The employee and I just looked at each other and I said, did you see that? Am I on Candid Camera? And we both laughed.

I have never been so embarrassed… well there was that one time I walked into a boys bathroom thinking it was a girls….I was only 9…embarrassing…… I wanted to crawl into the freezer as the employee got me a roll of paper towels. I did notice they were the Bounty brand the Tougher Picker Uper! I wiped my face, hair, glasses, the cart, and the top of the groceries. I wanted to just leave but now I felt like I owed them for the mess I made. I put the groceries on the conveyor belt thing looking through my cream smeared glasses and waited my turn. The checker scanned about four things and her scanner stopped. I did not think to wipe the bottom of the items in my cart. I then had to explain to her what happened. Oh I was wondering what that white stuff in your hair was. I laughed and now that I think back on it, it was funny.

Thank goodness I never have to go back to this store ever again, I thought as I walk out of the store with my tennis shoes squeaking from the stickiness of my soles. When I got home and walked through the yard to get to the house the leaves stuck to my shoes leaving a clear path to the house.

  1. I’m sure it seemed horrible at the time, but it is hilarious! Thanks for sharing it!

    • I am glad WE can laugh at it now! hahahaha

  2. Haha oh man, that is a great story! Probably not so funny when it happened, but at least you have a good sense of humor about it.

    • Thanks Will! All I could do was laugh! And my shoes reminded me of the incident as they squeaked out of the store. It was fall and when I got home I walked to the house the leaves stuck to my shoes. . .hilarious! hahaha

  3. Chance in a million of it happening too! πŸ˜€

    • Why oh why? So I can laugh at myself I guess!

  4. You sure this didn’t show on that “America’s Funniest Videos”?
Can you imagine if the store had surveillance cameras and got 10,000 bucks out your incident hahahaha
Very funny, but when it happens to you it hurts our dignity really bad.

    • Yes dignity is bruised, but funny enough now I can laugh at it. I never thought about the surveillance camera! Geezzz!

  5. Perfect story for a grey day here. We all need to be able to laugh at ourselves!

    • Sometimes we can not see the funny through the cream on our glasses! tehe!

  6. Brilliant! Definitely funnier when it’s happening to someone else, but it sounds like you handled it with aplomb!

    • Thanks and now I have a funny story to tell! lol

  7. OMG! That HAD to be a divine plan, right? πŸ™‚ Reminds us to laugh and not take things so seriously? Funny story. Hope you’re over it all. πŸ™‚

    • I was a little uptight that day, driving in NJ and not knowing the area was stressful so this just reminded me to laugh! lol Over it now and it now is just a great story.

  8. One of those happenings that is funny sometime later but not at the moment. Thanks for sharing! Hugs

    • What can one do? I just had to laugh at myself!
